4000 new Villagers today
 

I asked what the tent at Sumter Landing Sales office was for and a rep said that 2000 couples were checking in today for an extended stay. Yikes, thats a whole lotta people coming in on one day.

Do you really think they have 2000 homes to place them in during prime season?

Sounds fishy to me!

Arts and Crafts show is at LSL this weekend.

There are 1100 renters checking in for a month through the Villages rental system as we speak........

Is someone going to knit them a house?

They are mostly renters who couldn't check in yesterday. Need to pick up the resident card etc.

I'll Bet The New Houses/Villas Near LSL Will Be Buzzing
 

All the new houses and villas that were built so quickly beginning about October 1, are certain to be buzzing with the influx of visitors. I can't remember the count of the new residences, but I think it is near 300. I've heard that each one comes equipped with two bikes and a golf cart. I know I've seen a lot more "numbered" golf carts with no rain protection running around, so I'm assuming that they're all being driven by our visitors.

My guess is that after all the newbies find out how great the lifestyle is in TV that the rate of house sales will jump. Hmm, I guess that might have been the plan, do you think?

Or...

People realize that rentals can be had in Jan-Mar and just rent each year and head back up north?

With prices much more affordable than 2 years ago perhaps the rate of investment owned goes up?

There are still signs forbidding trespassing thru the construction zone where the new rentals are, and all of the homes (that you can see from the golf cart path) appear empty - no lights or furniture. They haven't even put a name on the village yet. I'm surprised they didn't get them ready in time.

Judging from the crowd this afternoon at the LSL craft show carrying maps and brochures, there are lots of new folks here even without these extra homes. It's pretty busy!

I spoke with one of the employees from Properties of The Villages Rental program early this morning. She stated they had 2000 people checking in yesterday...a few hundred more today. I asked her if they were using the homes in LSL that were just built....she said some of them will be used now and others saved for the next wave of renters in Feb. I asked her where else they would stay....she said they have rental homes throughout the entire villages. The village at LSL is not nearly enough for all of the people that come down here.

I know it is crowded...but I say GOOD for the economy, GOOD for The Villages!! Just don't go to the grocery stores in the early afternoon hours....;)

Lets see; 2000 people or 1000 couples checking in over 12 hours or 83 couples per hour. Is that possible?

TV has always maintained hundreds if not thousands of rental properties throughout TV for the Lifestyle Preview program, the few hundred they built near LSL will either add to or eliminate some of what they have always had, not sure much has changed.......GN

The woman I spoke to (Angie or Angela) stated it was 2000 people. So the number of homes being rented could be any thing under 2000. There are many singles that vacation here...to meet new and old friends. And consider that there could be up to 4 people in a home as well....couples sharing, 4 single friends, etc......

So we don't really know the number of homes being rented....

While typically it is a "couple" coming down together whether it is a married couple or two friends....Angie estimated about 1500 homes rental properties being signed in for that day....

Again....this can only help our economy.
