Human Nature?
 

Some recent postings have left me wondering if anyone is really satisfied with some changes happening in TV. There have been several posts lamenting the fact that Brownwood is not filled to capacity with retail stores. When a retail store is coming to the area, some residents complain they wish something else should have been there first.

Is it just me, or are some people ever really satisfied with the development of TV. OR, is it, just human nature?

Let me go on record saying, "I love this place and I am continually amazed at how much growth TV seems to be possessing". I am a happy camper. :smiley:

It's not you, 2BNTV. It's just that some people are never really satisfied with anything.

I don't think it's human nature in the sense that it is part of all humanity. But it definitely applies to a small (thank goodness) segment of humanity. :)

This is a fantastic place to live and nothing really does compare .
Sadly we have a number of professional complainers who have taken up residency here so that they can continue their life long hobby in their final years on earth .
They are only truly happy when everyone around them is miserable ! You know these people they existed where you worked for your entire career . They constantly complained about management and their fellow workers . They lived for it . They got up in the morning looking forward to another day of complaining and being unhappy .
Such behavior is completely ingrained in them . However you should feel very happy that you are not one of them and I would guess that no one who sleeps under your roof is one of them either .
Some poor soul[s] have to live with this type of personality and it must be " a fate worse than death ". Fortunately I am not one who is subject to such a person . And in my day to day life whenever I encounter one of " them " i move until I am out of the range of their whining / grating voice[s] .

I think there are so many people here coming from so many parts of the country and they all have their favorite supermarkets, restaurants and other stores. They all silently wish that some of their favorites would come here. Then when it is announced that another store is coming and it's not one they are familiar with they are disappointed. There are many stores that are my favorites from back home that are not in the area and I really wish they were. I am happy that for the most part I can order what I want on line and have it shipped here. For the restaurants there really is nothing we can do. We do travel to Ocala and Orlando sometimes to visit our favorites.

Without folks with good common sense and sane attitudes like you and 2BNTV, I would lose heart.

I've enjoyed watching and experiencing the growth and development of TV. The neighborhoods, the squares, the amenities, all of it.

Not every "new" is going to make everyone happy. Not every "new" is right for me, but it's right for someone and I'm not going to complain about it.

The Villages, no other place like it in the World. Period.

Dunno if it is human nature - BUT - their complaints sure make me wonder why they moved here in the first place!

&/or Why are they still here?

Given the vast number of new residents and the very rare occurrence of those who want to leave, I think it is safe to say that most of us love it here.

However, that's not to say that it is perfect in every way for everyone.

I don't think those who choose to point out the things that bother them or how they think things could be better, should have their voices shut down.

That's my take on it anyway. :shrug:

Somewhere I read that it takes many more muscles to frown than to smile. Maybe all the grumblers are just trying to stay fit. :icon_wink:
After all, we are suppose to be "America's Healthiest Hometown".

As wonderful as TV really is, it doesn't have 'everything' under the sun. For the majority that choose to live here and enjoy all it offers...and that is more that most retirement communities by far, we are joyfully thankful for what we have but not blind to the few things we can find elsewhere....when we go on a little trip....and happily come back home again.

Many of those complainers/whiners, do it about everything! It does get old after awhile.

I have enjoyed the 11 years or so we have been in the Villages. We have great neighbors and that is often what will make or break how much someone can enjoy an area. Plus I love all the numbers I have been seeing here and there over the past ten years or so. I know some think I am a flake but just wait until things start to pull together on the work I have done since 1991. There is a method to my madness and I am counting on some of the good people of the Villages as well as on TOTV to see it. I am also putting my faith in the inherent goodness of most people. Google Taltarzac725 why I think it is another beautiful day in the Villages.

Is it conceit to believe that a residents mood(s) are based on their relationship to The Villages?

I'm certain King George categorized the "colonists" as a bunch of complainers who he could never satisfy?

I'm sure there were cave men who said :Arg's" never satisified , always complains about our cold cave, eating raw meat. We hate to be around him... b****, b****, b**** that's all he ever does. if he is not satisified with our cave then he ought to move out because our cave is the coolest.....uh, er didn't mean cold, hottest ah, er didn't mean hot.......

Some residents here carry heavy burdens and they carry them quietly. So when people speak we should listen for their meaning between the lines and we should watch their expressions because it could be the personal burden they are dealing with that is actually driving them

As to this forum it takes conceit for someone to categorically label someone a chronic complainer and dismiss them out of hand.
Its also ironic because these same self righteous people are actually complainers complaining about other people whom they deem complainers
