Internet Service Providers in TV
Which ISP (Internet Service Provider) are available in the Villages? We are using Bellsouth here and it has always worked well for us.

As far as I know, you have COMCAST (broadband), Embarq (DSL) and the Villages.net (dial-up) and of course AOL.

If you want a dial-up service, there are many choices. When I moved to the Villages, I kept the same dial-up service (Poetworld) I had used for many years in Cincinnati. All I did was change the access phone number my Village computer dialed to a local number. Poetworld had many "local" numbers so when I travelled, I took my laptop with me and just changed to whatever phone number was local for the area I was in; thus no long distance charges.
I've since upgraded to broadband but a Villages friend continues to use Poetworld. He has absolutely no problems with it. There is no contract to sign; you pay by the month. Monthly fee is $7.95 for 200 hours (you'd have to be on the computer over 6 hours each day to eat up 200 hours). You get 4 email addresses. I have no connection to Poetworld - and no, you do not have to be a poet! - I'm just a very pleased past customer. They were very courteous when I cancelled my account and gave me absolutely no flak about doing so. Note, however, that if you want a computer connection to the Villages tee time system and used Poetworld (or another "outside" ISP), then you would have to pay an extra $8.00 per month for the connection. Here's a link to their site: http://poetworld.net/ |
