Popcorn Ceiling Removal

I had my popcorn ceiling removed and a new "knock down" ceiling put in. Basile Drywall and Remodeling did the job and I love it. Rick Basile came in covered everything (I do mean everything) taped it off and completed the job. My Villa was spotless when he was through. Rick explained everything before he started and followed through. I would highly recommend Rick and his company.

What was the cost per sq/ft?

Peanuts86 05-22-2016 02:58 PM

Rick will quote according to the job. He didn't break the bank and it was worth every penny.

Did you have furniture in your house when the work was done?? I think I heard that he only does empty houses.

Peanuts86 05-22-2016 03:24 PM

We took some furniture out (our choice). Rick will give you a better idea what's needed.

obxgal 05-22-2016 03:29 PM

Thank you. Happy to hear that.

The contractor normally can do ceilings if they can get within two feet of the edge. so moving furniture toward the middle of the room works. Probably have to breakdown beds

did you do the closets? they need to be clear of everything

Peanuts86 05-22-2016 05:36 PM

Yes, just the walk in closet. Other closets too small. Worked for me. Rick goes over that.

Folks, when you are pleased with a contractor's work, please put a phone number in your message. Glad everything worked out. Bet it looks great!

I don't understand why people want to remove popcorn ceilings. What am I missing?

Rick Basile was the low bidder for us and did a great job! 352 274-2396. They cover everything thoroughly. No dust or debris left behind. We stayed in a motel for 3 days and when we returned it was done. We moved small furniture, lamps, wall hangings to the garage. You can leave beds where they are.

The knock down looks so much better - and it will be much easier to paint!

We had them paint the kitchen ceiling with a semi gloss paint to make it washable, especially over the stove.

Some people prefer to have smooth ceilings. Easier to paint.

I don't like them but I am going to hire someone to paint anyway. Doesn't bother me enough to have them smoothed out.

It's so nice to see someone take the time and post something positive about a contractor.

Make sure whoever paints them PRIMES WITH OIL BASED KILZ first, otherwise the popcorn will start separating from the drywall. Len
