New to the area

G'day, may well be in the wrong place but I thought I would give it a shot. I am over in a week or so to visit my daughter and she has booked me into The Waterfront with a view to me having a look around and may be moving over to be closer to her. Now, how can I put this diplomatically? In my experience US night life is very "reserved" compared to UK nightlife so I was wondering if anybody could (would) recommend a decent bar or two in the vicinity whilst I am over ?
Thanks.

There is Honest John's Whiskey and Provisions and Cody's Original Roadhouse with in walking distance of The Waterfront inn. Others here on the board my be able to give you more options. You can also "google" these two for more info. Enjoy your visit.

There is also City Fire, Gators and Red Sauce, all within walking distance. You will I'm sure find several to talk to while having a drink at the bar.

The Waterfront has a great bar area in the lobby and they have music every night. So you may not have to go far. If you don't want to dance, just hang out, everyone is very friendly there and you'll have company, I bet on it. Have fun!!

Well I don't have any experience with UK bars, but I'll offer this. I played in a band at City Fire Lake Sumter (a short walk from the Waterfront) for a couple years. Especially on Friday and Saturday, it is anything but "reserved"!

You will have no problem at any of the above. Relax and Enjoy

Thanks, normally I stay at my daughters and spend the week cooking, cleaning, ironing etc. Thought I would give it a miss this time. Perhaps that is the real reason why she wants me to move over lol.

City Fire it is then.

All of the above is, within walking distance, from The Waterfront Hotel.

Hi Charlie.

I thought only folks from Australia said G'day. It is also surprising to me to hear that the U.S. is more reserved in ANYTHING than the U.K. It has been my experience with Brits that they are reserved and polite with people right up until before they wring your neck.

Good Afternoon sir.

Have a chair.

Compared to the bars and late night night life in the UK, bars here are "reserved".

Been to England a few times and I am baffled. Perhaps we went to bed too early. What do they do JoMar, tear off their clothes and dance on the table?
