I believe the recommendation of developer is every 6 months. This info is contained in a document about the care and upkeep of your home.

I mean this in the most helpful way ... I have mine washed when it becomes dirty. Some times six months, sometimes longer.

We are fairly new here, and it does turn out to need it about twice a year. The north side of the house (our house has siding), in particular, starts getting a greenish tint (algae?) and when power washed comes right off. A friend told us to make sure the power washers do not spray so it gets under our siding, which causes mold/mildew.

I finally did it after two years.

When the washers came, they did not see any issues that built up and they didn't put me in a time-out.

Live in a CYV (poured concrete) 5 yrs old and never power washed . Of the 67 unites in our compound I know of none that have been powerwashed other than gutters and downspouts. The all look good. Power washing parged material that does not have dirt build ups or mold etc can be very harmful to the coating by forcing moisture through minute cracks. IMO if you feel that power washing is indicated ,you need be careful to make sure that you are not sending water behind siding and into eave openings.

Twice a year, is the conventional wisdom.

Some things are not worth trying to save a couple of bucks. IMHO

And I would recommend Egners. They know what they are doing.

Just wash it when it's needed. Why clean it if it's already clean?

After 6 months of dust blowing around, it may still look clean, but it's not.

We use Egners then we have D & J Window Washing clean our windows Twice a year. Keeps the bugs off our siding and the dirt and dust off our windows.

6 months to a year

Mleeja 05-23-2016 08:44 PM

The suggestion made to us is if you have siding' never power wash your house. However, wash it twice per year. A good soap solution and the normal water pressure will keep the siding clean.

Washing and Power Washing are two very different things. Power should be used carefullyWe because it can cause significant problems.

Why do you wash the house? Are you prolonging the time between paint job ? Did you wash your prior home?
