No more Valedictorians
N.C. school board votes to stop naming valedictorians due to 'unhealthy' competition - Washington Times
The NC school board feels that singling out the top achievers hurts the other students. Now, everyone will get an achievement award so that their feelings won't get hurt. No more winners and losers. Everyone gets to be equal, whether they deserve it or not. Bernie's kind of deal, only without the free meal ticket. |

Valedictorian is selected by multiplying your GPA times the value of the class. AP classes are worth 5 points and Shop classes might be worth 3 points. For example students who wish to go on to engineering are discouraged from taking shop classes because it would lower their chances of being valedictorian. It goes the same with art and music classes. They will hurt your score although may benefit you in many ways. It's a very complicated subject that is glossed over by the the author just to enflame some people. |
Any and all rankings / awards which honor anyone for being better at anything than anyone else will soon be eliminated via new Federal Regulations by the current Administration or when Hillary is in control .
