Indy 500

The 100th Indianapolis 500 is over and an American has won-- Alexander Rossi a 24 year old rookie. What a race!

The Indy 500 always brings back memories of washing and waxing the family car under the big shade tree and listening to the 500 on radio with Dad instructing me on the "right way" to wash and wax a car. Never been as it's still on my bucket list but rarely have I missed it on radio or on television the past 65 or so years. "The Greatest Spectacle in Racing"!

justjim, I have similar memories with my Dad. I fell asleep on the job today, just showing a little wear & tear. Exciting race though, wow! Thankful for DVR.

Remember skipping school to go to a local theater and watch the race on closed circuit broadcast.

Brings back great memories especially of my Dad. We would listen to it on the radio and he took me to the theater to see closed circuit and watch the STP special turbine race. We went there once and it was great. Always a special day for me.

I am not a racing fan, but had the opportunity to attend three Indy 500 races.

You are absolutely correct--attendance at an Indy 500 should be on everyone's bucket list. It is a spectacle that cannot be captured on television.

Great race to add to many yeas of memories.
