New five to one CDD rule

One of the new 2016 changes to the Florida CDD regulations is to allow up to 5 CDDs to merge into one large CDD.

“(4)(a) To achieve economies of scale, reduce costs to affected district residents and businesses in areas with multiple existing districts, and encourage the merger of multiple districts, up to five districts that were established by the same local general-purpose government and whose board memberships are composed entirely of qualified electors may merge into one surviving district through adoption of an ordinance by the local general purpose government ……..”

http://laws.flrules.org/2016/94

I believe only up to five CDDs are allowed to merge into one because the legislators felt that every old CDD should have a voice and they wanted to stay with a five member CDD board structure.

I wonder who lobbied for this and will it eventually be used to reduce the number of Village CDDs?

It’s important to know and understand these new Florida CDD regulations as they will affect us such as giving CDDs the authority to have vehicles towed/removed under certain circumstances. This authority may help spruce up parts of TV. Please learn about the changes, don’t fret, and enjoy living in this ever changing world!

Was discussed by the boards, reported in the Daily Sun and minutes of those meetings posted on the District web site.
Stirring the pot with this post is unnecessary. Save this issue when you move here and are elected (?).

Thanks for your posting this information as I had not read this good article. Sorry, I will try to read more papers from afar before posting. It’s about like playing pickleball at the YMCA in Urbana to be ready for The Villages, sometimes I play well and sometimes I miss everything.

Are you practicing for your election platform?
Highlight a potential problem, tell people not to fret, and then propose a solution.

Sorry again for bringing up old news that I missed. I am not sure there is any problem with the changes made. Now, how much is the mayor of TV paid?

You forgot the part about conveniently ignoring the problem after elected.
