Best way to Harrisburg, PA

We are going to a wedding in Mechanicsburg, PA and would like to know the quickest route from TV. Thanks.

rt 75 north into tenn. to rt 40 n to rt 81 all the way into Hershey pa......about 17 hrs

we go to Gettysburg every year (our home) and we take I95. When you get to DC there are back roads you can take if you don't like the DC traffic

I agree with this route, easier drive that 95 and a lot of better scenery. I have done both and stay as far away from 95 as I can. The easiest is fly direct from Sanford to HSB and rent a car...:icon_wink:

Ditto that

Opmoochler 06-05-2016 04:39 PM

We go 301 to I-10 to I-95 to I-26 (towards Columbia, SC) to I-77 (towards Charlotte, NC) to I-81(in VA)
981 miles to Harrisburg roughly 15 hours

We do this trek much farther up 81 to the Fingerlakes region of NY-we're about 4 hrs north of Harrisburg

We do the same except get to I-95 going thru the Ocala Forest and thru Palatka. Same result.

We have a home near Harrisburg, this is the best route but check the weather if you travel during the winter. The Blue Ridge Mountains can have bad weather when everyone else has good weather.Avoid Charlotte 7 Am to 9AM and 3PM to 6PM. Statesville north of Charlotte is a good layover point.

Mimivillager 06-19-2016 03:40 PM

Arrived in Charlotte at 4
Uneventful drive
Beautiful weather so far
On to Gettysburg tomorrow

A very stress free way to go. So much better than 95. A little longer and the only stress was going thru Atlanta but we timed it well so no more 95 for us. Come to think of it we'll let the kids travel to see us. :crap2:

When I read your post originally I thought you were saying you make Binghamton, NY in. 14 hours that's 1,120 miles or an average of 80 mph without stopping for food or gas. Then the light came on! You're saying 14 hours to Harrisburg via I-81. Even that's excellent time (984 miles) and doesn't account for pit stops.

Mimivillager 06-21-2016 04:46 PM

arrived in Gettysburg at 2 yesterday
950 miles and 16 hours ( we did have several stops)
safe and uneventful trip
lots of trucks on 81
