Short stay in new home $.25 for paper what else?

Hello. We are driving down tomorrow from Ohio for a week or two to close on our new home in Hadley. We will be coming back down in a month or two for a longer visit. What do you suggest we bring in addition to: a small tv with converter box and rabbit ears, a blow up bed and lawn chairs, paper, pens and a coffee pot, cups, laptop, cutting board, placesettings, vacuum, trashbags, cd player, bathing suit and credit card. Does the Sun cost a quarter at the mailbox area? Thank you for the help.

sheets and towels

pots and pans or Geroge forman grill

Hint: plan to attend a few garage sales where you can pick up what you might need for a small price Garage sales are advertised in the Sun and occur every Friday and Saturday all over TV

Congratulations on your new home

JDS, your list sounds just like what we brought with us. I would add a little table, a little lamp, and some cushions for the folding chairs to your list.

We brought 2 camp chairs with us, and hauled them inside and outside depending on where we wanted to sit. We stood at the counter to eat and use the laptops. We really could have used a small table to put the laptops and coffee cups on, and another set of folding chairs for outside. I bought a patio set from Walmart (sight unseen -- it was on the top shelf in the garden department) merely because it had a table AND the chairs were padded. After 2 weeks of camp chairs I needed something soft to sit on and something other than a cardboard box for a table. We used the patio set in our dining room for another month, until the dining room furniture was delivered.

Another thing you might want to bring is a lamp, unless you want to read your Daily Sun in your folding chairs underneath the dining room chandelier, like we did. The only light in the bedroom at night is from the closet or the bathroom. We carried our little lamp from the living room to the bedroom every night.

Good luck and WELCOME!

That whole experience just a few months ago was fun and just a little uncomfortable. It was an adventure!

I feel so luxurious now in our pretty close to completely furnished house.

Don't hunt for the Sun. Just call them and start delivery for your first day there. You can stop and restart anytime after you set up your account.

If you are open to the used stuff idea, the garage sale route really works well. Also, check out Bargains and Treasures on the county road one block north of the big intersection of 466 and 301.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!

jdsl1998 Welcome to the hood and does this bring ever bring back memories. We're still only visiting because we haven't sold our north home yet. One thing you might want are some rugs at the doorways especially the garage entrance. I also bought a can of bug spray just in case.

And if you're there during the Crispers monthly meeting - please attend. You'll most likely have instantaneous friends.

Good Luck

You will not get much in the way of television with the rabbit ears. I believe we only got one station with our rabbit ears and even then it was not very clear.

Don't forget your camera.

Since you'll have a laptop, someone in the area will have an unsecured wireless connection for you to tap into (don't yell at me - secure your wireless!). Once in you can stream all sorts of TV entertainment, news etc from all the networks. Just a thought.

Directions to Walmart, Home Depot, a computer to search for local businesses and a credit card. Thats everything you need to get settled.

TV trays! Am still using them when I am down until I get end tables. Interchangeable - use as lamp tables and table for laptop.

Just wanted to tell you I own a home in Hadley as well. I do remember that time very well. We were exhausted but we had a great time getting our new home set up. We closed on August 9 and were in and furnished by August 14. Wife still teaches and school was beginning on the 16th. We come down when we can and rent when as as often as we can. Our schedule is flexible and we can work around the rentals. As all of us do need extra cash. Be reminded that the Golf Cart is the 2nd biggest decision you will make. Good Luck and enjoy THe Villages.
