Confused about neighborhoods

Hi, Everyone,
I am confused about what I am looking at in TV. I am an older tennis player who likes to hit on soft surfaces, I like woodworking so I plan to use the woodshop, I like lap swimming. I have been searching for a neighborhood to be close to those activities. My questions are:
1. If I had to drive a golf cart for 8-10 miles for each activity, how is that on your body?
2. Can you recommend neighborhoods to purchase a home to be close to these activities?
Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

A map of The Villages.
The Villages, Florida (FL) profile: population, maps, real estate, averages, homes, statistics, relocation, travel, jobs, hospitals, schools, crime, moving, houses, news, sex offenders

Suggest you call the Sales Office and they can send you a detailed map.

You might want to contact a Villages sales person.

The woodworking facility is near 441/27 on Rolling Acres Road. The Tennis facility you want is off Buena Vista, north of 466 near Glenview Country Club. But all rec centers have hard courts. If you can play tennis, riding in a golf cart shouldn't hurt you. You are only going 20 miles an hour. Lap/sports pools are at all regional recreation centers.
Laurel Manor, Lake Miona, Colony, SeaBreeze, Savannah....I just went blank.

As others have told you, you need an official map that costs five dollars, a Villages sales agent/and or an mls realtor, and most of all an extended visit.

Come on down. You will love it. Almost every person thinks they live in the best neighborhood, the best village. I do.

The clay courts are all in the northwest area, 6 at Glenview Country Club. There are 4 more at Nancy Lopez country club. If you want to drive a golf cart to tennis, you probably want to look at the villages near Spanish Springs.

We did the lifestyle experience, and were put in a house in the very south west area, west of Brownwood. It took us over 30 minutes to drive a golf cart to Sumter Landing. We drove our car to tennis, and it was still 20 minutes by car. Since it was so far away opted out of a second tennis opportunity.

The newer areas, where the new builds are, would be almost an hour away from the clay courts by golf cart. Though I love riding in a golf cart, it would be too much for me.

Gee. I thought tennis players were really fit. ;) Our golf group drives all over The Villages to play golf. You can't always get courses nearby during the high season. I like the ride through beautiful neighborhoods with lovely flowers blooming meeting others on a similar mission. We now have the time to enjoy the scenery.

One of the things that I always look forward to when I am at our home in the Villages is just getting in the golf cart and driving around, much like you Gracie, enjoying the neighborhoods and scenery. If I can't take the time to enjoy a drive in the golf cart, I might as well keep working, and I can assure you that is not in my plans.

Knowing that we could be traveling fairly long distances (we live south of 466A) we purchased a golf cart with upgraded seats to travel longer distances as comfortable as possible. That said, we carefully picked a Village as close as possible to the type of activities that we participate in the most and was not far from grocery shopping, restaurants and etc. We are very pleased with our home, location and great neighbors.

OP, my advise would be to visit The Villages yourself to get an idea of the homes available and the distance to the activities that interest you. Good luck.

No Cart Path

I drive past the woodshop frequently and I don't think you can reach it with a golf cart unless it's the street legal kind. No cart path that I recall.

Soft Tennis courts > you want to be close to Glenview or up north. But something to think about> we came here to play tennis and after a few years discovered PickleBall that you can play all over the Villages. Many Tennis players convert to PB as age sets in. Some people use their carts a lot and they are nice, but to be honest we seem to be so busy going from one thing to another that we we don't have time to take the cart to most places except for golf, local activities or one of the events at the Sq where cart parking is a lot easier. Renting first in a area before buying will give you a better idea on where you want to live and how much you will be using a golf cart but your interests will probably change a bit once your here awhile.
