Poinsettia Plant
I have 2 leftover Poinsettia plants from Christmas. Can I plant them in the ground with other landscaping and get them to flower?
|
Yes, I have three and they are doing quit well. When I walk I see several 4 foot high plants in yards. I plan on planting more with mixture of colors. They like partial to fun sun. Had then in shaded area when I first planted them and they didn't like Full shade.

I broke off, by accident, a 'branch' from a poinsettia at Xmas. I put it in a glass of water. After a few weeks, buds started to appear on the stem. Now, it is middle of June, I have some healthy looking branches, nice leaves, but NO roots!! Any ideas on what to do?? I don't want to kill what is a healthy looking plant :)

The Trick Is
Poinsettias bloom when the night period of darkness reaches 12 hours or more. If you plant them near a porchlight or other light such as a streetlight they won't bloom in time for Christmas and maybe never at all.
