Propane Gas Grill Tank
 

I have a 2 month old propane gas grill tank and would like to bring it with us when we move full time to The Villages. Is there anyplace in The Villages that I can refill the tank or is it just exchange programs for propane tanks in The Villages?

If propane tanks can only be exchanged in TV, do you know of anywhere outside The Villages that is close proximity that will fill propane tanks?

In addition to the exchange programs (Blue Rhino, etc), there are plenty of places around the area to fill propane tanks. I never gave bring mine a 2nd thought! Good luck!!

At the corner of 466 and Rolling Acres, within sight of The Villages is Recreation Plantation an RV park. They fill tanks between certain hours. I think it starts at 10 or 11.

Ace Hardware, 3417 Wedgewood Ln., (352) 751-6680 will meet you at the door, refill your tank and help you put it back in your car. Just had an empty new tank filled for $13 and change.

Ace Hardware in Wildwood, on 301. You only pay for the amount of propane that they put in.

Ace Hardware on 466 will refill also

Yep, they are great on refilling tanks.

Just heed the sign on the door and don't bring it inside the store.

You should also mark your tank in some way, so it doesn't get mixed up with someone else's.

If your tank has has gas in it, I would advise against bringing it all the way from NJ. Too many things can go wrong (i.e. a small accident could turn into a disaster). It is one of the reasons moving companies refuse to bring them. You can get a new one when you get here.

Bringing it through a tunnel will land you a$10,000 fine, if you get caught.

If you go to the rear of the store, there is a chain link fence with a gate near the propane storage tank. You can take your tank out of your vehicle and push the red button beside the gate and someone will come out of the store to help you. Once they have your tank filled, they will give you a slip to take inside (through the back door) and pay for the propane. The cashier gives you a receipt and a "loading ticket" to take back out to the person who filled the tank. Load the tank back into your vehicle, and you're on your way. Very easy process and all the staff at the Wildwood Ace are great!

I plan to bring the tank completely dry. I would never attempt to transport a tank with any gas in it.

And how would you certify that to law enforcement ? Opening the valve will not allow the gas to escape.

I would question my own sanity grilling in this heat. Not a complaint...just an observation... I ran my tank totally empty always when the expensive steaks were cooking not a hotdoggie...just lucky I guess. :clap2:

I bought a little stick on scale that you pour hot water over, that will give you a decent approximation of the level of the tank and that seems to have helped my previous perfect timing of when it went empty. :thumbup:
