Dr. Robert Aisenstat

Does anyone know why Dr. Robert Aisenstat is no longer at the Villages Health Care Center at Pinellas?

I do not use him but I understand he has retired!

This info is from a friend who was using him.

Dr Robert Aisenstat and his wife Dr Helene have been our family doctors since they joined The Villages Health in December 2013. We love both of them and will really miss them. We don't want to see them leave. Does anyone know if this was a sudden move or something planned?

Unfortunately I found him to be patronizing, dismissive and condescending. I quit going to him. His lack of knowledge regarding the side affects of the drugs he prescribed was disturbing.

There is an article today in the "other" on-line village news. Very vague, and will only lead to speculation.

"Dr. Robert Aisenstat is out at the Villages Health Care Center at Pinellas Plaza.
He and Villages Health reportedly parted ways last week. Aisenstat has spent 30 years in the medical profession. He attended medical school at Universidad Tecnilogica De Santiago and did his residency at Deaconess Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.

Meanwhile, his wife Dr. Helene Aisenstat, is “on leave” but remains with Villages Health.
They own a home in the Village of St. Charles."

He has been my Dr. For the last several years and I have been totally happy with him but since he was my age I worried about him retiring soon and now it has happened and I have to find a new Doctor and not sure who is good. As I am a diabetic and so was he it was very easy to talk to him. Will miss him a lot.

He told me personally in early May he was retiring.

Seems very odd, I have had him as my Dr. for over 3 years. I had an exam with him, we made a followup appointment. One week later on a Saturday I got a call from the Medical Center to reschedule, had to reschedule with a different doctor. Found out he was gone, seems very sudden to me.
If he were planning on leaving wouldn't he have let his patients know ????

I don't really know. Sometimes employees are not allowed to tell people they are leaving. He was not my Dr. so I cannot say what he told or didn't tell his patients

Dr Aisenstat

My husband was a patient of Dr Aisenstat whom we acquired after after Dr. Susan Hawkins left. As a critical care Nurse Manager and Director of Nursing Services, I found him to be less than adequate in the diagnosis and treatment of my husband. In the office he did not listen to concerns and complaints. He was dismissive of our questions and concerns and was condescending to me. I wonder how many patients have had the experiences we have had with this physician?

My experience, and that of a couple of friends if mine, could not be further from what you described. We all thought he was the best doc we ever had. He always asked questions, probing for detail, and offering solutions and suggestions. I know I will miss him a lot, as he did a lot for me in the 2 years I was lucky enough to have him as my PCP.

Does anyone know why his wife Dr. Helen left too? Did they both retire? And because Villages Health Care are only going to see patients with Medicare United Health Care Advantage plans, I don't know where to find a new doctor. Any suggestions?

Maybe they left because they objected to the rejection of all Medicare plans except the United Health Care Advantage plan that has been instituted at TVH.

Seems like some VHC docs may break off and start their own office. Not sure there is any motivation to do that if they are not making any money .
