Pet Adoption Event

Just in case you are looking for a pet and didn't read about this event in the Daily Sun ....

Petco on Highway27/441 will host a pet adoption event Saturday from 11 AM to 2 PM. The event will feature animals from the German Shepherd Rescue, the Pug Rescue of Orlando, the Sumter County Humane Society and Pet Lovers Rescue. There are many animals that need homes.

At the adoption event, Petco will also offer coupons, free samples of animal food and tips from the store's dog trainer.

Yes, these pooches are up on shots, microchipped, and I believe are spayed or neutered.

I've had an opportunity to meet lots of rescued dogs at DDRR (the private dog park). My neighbours adopted a rescue dog two weeks ago. She is a beauty and fitting into the family very well. She is devoted to her new owners.

It is a misconception that only "bad dogs" are given to shelters. Many are the result of marriage break-ups, job losses or illness. Many wonderful dogs need homes.

I can attest to Barefoots statement. All of my dogs over the last 15 years have come from shelters and they are wonderful loving pets, with NO bad habits. So many dogs are put down every year because of overcrowding in the shelters. PLEASE give a homeless pet a chance at a wonderful life.

Hey Chels, did you hear that? PUG rescue will be at petco!!!!

Another vote for adoption. Both our ours girls were adopted from German Shepherd Rescue and they reward us everyday with love.

Bare, my opinion is, there are no "bad" dogs, just "bad" owners.

I've rescued many dogs in LA that were just abandoned in the hills above my home and they were wonderful animals. The people probably got them and didn't realize the needs of animals as pets. I brought them all to the shelter and if not rescued by the last day prior to being put down, I would adopt them. At one point, the animal shelter had me down for about 10 dogs.
