Rio Grand pool dog walk request

Sure could use garbage can for dog waste... wonder if crochet members would discourage this? I dispose at home but find many bags that litter the walk.

Based on the comments from folks who resent the pet waste put in trash containers at mail stations [especially during the hot spells] I thought this was a much frowned upon asset. More frowned upon are the folks who can't do as you and dispose of at home!

As one that puts my dog poop in my home trash can I know how bad it can stink up a trash can even for one day. Would be best to carry extra plastic bags and put it in a carry bag of some sort till you get home.

I put a small trash bin with a cover outside my garage ( kind of hidden by the bush) with a plastic bag in it so when I come back from walks or wherever and have poop I put it in the trash bin. Then on trash day I can easily take it out of the bin and throw it away with the regular trash.

I empty the poop in my toilet when I get home and put the plastic bag in the trash.

I had read a few years back that it was not good to flush animal feces due to some kind of bacteria that could get into the waterways. However, since you posted, I did a search and came up with this from this site 5 Things You Didn’t Know About Dog Poop : "Humans use toilets every day. So why don’t we flush animal waste down the toilet, too? Perhaps we don’t consider the toilet a viable receptacle for our dog’s waste because toilets aren’t outside. We also might overlook toilets because the idea of removing your dog’s waste from a bag and putting it into the toilet bowl adds an extra step to waste disposal. However, it may be time to reconsider the toilet. After all, even the EPA suggests flushing dog poop is by far the most ecologically friendly removal method. And there are several water-soluble bags on the market, which you can safely flush, so there’s nothing stopping you!"

So now you have me thinking about this. It has always bothered me to put the poop in the trash. Just doesn't seem like a good place for the feces. The bags, well... at least we buy the biodegradable kind.

Also... flushable and certified compostable dog poop bags
