Moving in from CO with TFL. Any comments on finding doctors and specialists?

I've had no problems with any office accepting TFL.

Search this site, there are lots of opinions concerning this insurance and being treated at Villages Health. If you want villages Health, call them and get the straight story.
There are lots of Doctors around TV. We are in the midst of some serious confusion with the recent announcement from VHS.

I've lived here for 3 years and have never had a problem with anyone not taking TFL.

Into my 6th year here, all TFL. Never have had one blip with any doc of any specialty. Found them all here on TOTV and am very pleased with care here. Nothing to worry about. If you want to talk personally about our experience with health care in TV, please feel free to send a PM.

I presume you have Original Medicare as Primary and TFL as Secondary. You have the best health care plan around - don't let anyone talk you into taking something else. You can go to any doctor that accepts Medicare (and there are a lot of them here). Medicare will bill TFL - NEVER ALLOW YOUR DOCTOR TO BILL THEM DIRECT. As far as Part D (your drug plan) goes, use the TFL Express Scripts option for mail order and establish an account at any local Walgreens for those few times you "Need It Today" because they will offer a 10% military discount. CVS does not offer that to retired military. If it is more than a one-time only prescription, make sure your doctor sends the prescription to Express Scripts AND gives you a copy of use for the first fill at your drug store.

Last Time I was in Walgreens, they do not accept Tricare or Tricare for Life. Can you tell me which Walgreens you are using?

Stay away from The Villages Healthcare. No matter what they tell you, eventually they will coerce you into medicare advantage or stop providing healthcare service to you.

I have Medicare and TFL. It's awesome. I have had a few major surgeries requiring specialist. Never a problem seeing any Dr.
I also belong to the Villages Health System and love it !!

You may not have a problem because you are at present a Medicare and TFL patient so you are grandfathered in at this time. People who turn 65 after January 1, 2017 will not be allowed to stay in The Villages Healthcare HMO if they have Tricare for Life. I have a friend who has Medicare and TFL and he is allowed to stay in TVH for now because he is grandfathered in. His wife, however, turns 65 after January 1,2017 and she will not be allowed to use TFL. She recently received a letter that contained this information. The irony is she was the career military person! Incidentally they will both be leaving TVH. If you are moving to the Villages now and are under 65 you can use TVH, but after 65 you will be kicked out. If you are over 65 now you will not be able to use your TFL at TVH. Since you are a new patient you would not be entitled to grandfather status. One wonders how long they will keep grandfathered TFL patients. Maybe as far as 2018. Who knows.

Have Tricare for Life and Medicare also and right now am still in enrolled. Right now I am grandfathered. I just take it a year at a time. Am Pleased with the system

I have been with TVH since they started. If it should ever happen that I am no longer grandfathered in, I will just go to another Dr.
I have another Dr. that I really like. I went to him for years. I loved his NP and followed her to TVH. I would go back to him. It is what it is.

Bonny. You are my heroine. You have amazing common sense, and a sense of fun and you are not a complainer although I know you have had some health scares in the last few years.

Your mom sure raised you right and I am so glad you live here and post here too.

Aw, thank you so much. I have been at that point where I realize just how quickly life can change and how short life can be.
I just want to be happy for how ever long I have on this earth. :icon_wink:
