Seems I remember last year there was a parade at both squares. No mention of it this year ? ?

graciegirl 02-23-2009 08:02 AM

Another thing to enjoy. Wow.

Sweetie and I were just talking about how big the Mardi Gras is in the south. I have gone to events back in Cincinnati, indoor dress up parties, big and small, but here there are parades and week long activities. There is a big billboard in Leesburg announcing their Mardi Gras activities and someone mentioned how huge it was in Pensacola.

I imagine the weather is a factor.People can be outside more. I need to read today's paper to see what exactly is happening here and when. Isn't it great to be here where so many things are celebrated all of the time??

No 'official' parade for Mardi Gras in the last 2 years I've been here.

But the 'characters' form an impromptu version and parade around the squares.

We are going to be at Mardi Gras. Hope to see many of you there

On the webcam I see a large white tent at LSL Market Square. Is it there for Fat Tuesday festivities?

Yes, Mardi Gras is great down here! Didn't know anyone here yet last year, but my hubby and I went and had a wonderful time. Looking forward to sharing it with many good friends this year! :pepper2::2excited::laugh:

The wife and I are not going to the "mob in the square" tommorrow. Instead we will be going to the "Music in the Park" event on Thursday.
