Dog Poop left in Dog Park

I was bringing my dog most mornings to the dog park near Belle Glade. One day she decided that the poop that was left behind by another dog smelled good and ate a chunk of it before I could grab a bag and pick it up. That night she was deathly ill with severe diarrhea that poured out of her all night. Now I don't want to take her to the dog park any more. People need to pay attention to their dogs while there and pick up after them. This just shouldn't have happened.

Unfortunately that can happen anywhere especially if the people are visiting and not paying attention to where their dog poops.

I take it this was at the Atlas Dog Park?? Dog Parks

The customer flags the poop at Doggie Doo Run Run and then a pooper scooper picks it up on his rounds but this may take a while in a 10 acre dog park and some people seldom if ever flag their dog's feces.

I would never subject my beloved pet to any pet park...it's just a breeding ground for parasites other dog born illnesses

Doggie Doo Run Run is 10 acres or so. So this does happen once in a while bit very rarely that a pooch picks something bad up.

I agree

I have the same problem with cats pooping in my yard and the dog finding it. Usually causes him to get sick. Neighbors no help with the problem.

Are you sure it isn't a feral cat? There's one that periodically poops in our side yard. I have to pick it up asap, as one of our dogs views that as a gourmet snack.

Exactly.

And then there are the boob owners who think their dog can do no wrong. Recipe for disaster.

My dog up north used to eat deer poop. There was no avoiding it. If I had hum on a leash I would pull him away from it, but otherwise he would eat the poop of many wild animals. He never got sick from it.

The favorite snack around Lake Michigan was goose poop. The geese eat so much grass... Rolling in it's fun too.

Now this sounds kind of bad but I will not elaborate.

I used to have to avoid the goose and duck poop around the Red Lion Inn located about 300 feet from where my parents lived on Fairway Drive for ten years or so in Rohnert Park, CA. (south of Santa Rosa and north of Napa Valley). There were often movie production trailers I would encircle looking for someone interesting to talk to about duck poop and other topics. DoubleTree Sonoma Hotel near Santa Rosa, CA

I lived there with my parents from late 1991 through mid-1996 working on my 224 613 Project.

I had some exciting walks with my rather square cocker spaniel named Amber while we avoided duck and goose poop and scouted for movie stars.

I have owned animals all of my life. It would never cross my mind to take one of my dogs to a dog park. I would be so worried about my fur baby getting a disease, an aggressive dog attack, fleas & ticks, etc.

Yes

Yes, neighbor feeds a herd of them in her front yard. I chase them out all the time.

Exactly.

I chuckle at people who would not dream of leaving their dog with the most reputable kennel for boarding while they're gone, for fear of parasites, fleas, diseases, having to sleep on something other than a TempraPedic, organic bamboo gel-foam cool mattress; and a couple of them get a babysitter for literally being gone from the house 2 or 3 hours.

And yet, they take the dog to the dog parks. The kennels are checking for shot records, etc., and they will put the dog in a crate and away from other boarders if need be.

SMH.....

Our dog, Meg loved to smear her face with goose poo. We lived in farmland in VA alongside a lake frequented by large flocks of waterfowl. The stinkier, and most colorful, all the better for our gal. Now the best she can adorn her face with is the occasional lizard speck
