Report Says More Than 100 Democratic Groups And Officials Have Been Hacked

It appears that the cyberattack that led to the release of thousands of DNC emails was broader than originally suspected. According to a new report by the New York Times the Federal Bureau of Investigation says as many as 100 groups and individuals associated with the Democratic party have been targeted by hackers.

According to The New York Times:

The widening scope of the attack has prompted the F.B.I. to broaden its investigation, and agents have begun notifying a long list of Democratic officials that the Russians may have breached their personal accounts.

The main targets appear to have been the personal email accounts of Hillary Clinton’s campaign officials and party operatives, along with a number of party organizations.

Officials have acknowledged that the Russian hackers gained access to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, which is the fund-raising arm for House Democrats, and to the Democratic National Committee, including a D.N.C. voter analytics program used by Mrs. Clinton’s presidential campaign.

But the hack now appears to have extended well beyond those groups, and organizations like the Democratic Governors’ Association may also have been affected, according to Democrats involved in the investigation.

If the report is true, Democrats and the Clinton campaign have considerable cause for concern, as the culprits are likely sitting on a treasure trove potentially embarrassing information that can impact the November elections. :wave:

Wikileaks released 20,000 leaked DNC emails last months shortly before the start of the Democratic National Convention. The information contained in those emails led to a shakeup at the DNC, which included the resignation of Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz and several other high-level staffers.

Although the FBI suspect the hacks were committed by Russian hackers, WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has so-far refused to implicate Russia in the email leak.

This should be the most interesting election of our time

And the Dems will claim Trump had the Russians do it, and the media will support that claim.
