Golf cart taken from Brownwood

Our blue Yamaha gas golf cart was taken, either intentionally or by mistake, this evening from Brownwood across from SAS Shoes. I had the key on me but I guess that wasn't enough. The cart has Detroit Lions logo stickers on it. If you see it, message me on ToTV or contact community watch or Wildwood Police. Thanks.

Probably an old person that doesn't realize they took the wrong cart just like the old people that mistakenly took a Kia from the parking lot of a local restaurant. Hope your cart is recovered or returned......

For those of us that have no experience with golf carts: Don’t they use keys? The OP said they had the key in their possession, I assume that’s the GC ignition key. If they do use keys how does one just hop in the wrong cart and go? Curious.

Those darn Bears fans. Seriously, a lot of Yamaha keys are interchangeable. It happened to me on a lifestyle preview. I hope that's the case and the person comes back for their cart.

If I mistakenly sat in a cart that looked like mine from the outside ( same color, seats, canvas etc ) I would know immediately that it wasn't mine as soon as I plopped my butt inside. You just know, just sayin...
Hope you get it back.

Unless you paid extra for a unique key then Yamaha carts have a universal key.

Detroit Lions logo dismisses the theory that a person mistakenly took the cart. Yamaha keys like car keys are different, at least i believe they are? If true then they either hot wired the vehicle or pushed it onto a trailer.

One last thought I have seen people roam the parking lots at Brownwood aimlessly looking for their cart. OP doesn't give enough info on this ie time of day parking lot crowded or not. etc.

never say never here people have rolled their groceries out to their cars and left with the groceries still in the grocery cart ..seen it over and over. Same with leaving the keys in post office box

Hope OP recovers vehicle

Is that true? My understanding was that the "glove compartment" lock was universal but the ignition lock was unique.

I don't know about Yamaha, but Club Cars use a universal key. Ours came from Cart World and have a push button code to enter after you turn on they key. One in 10,000 chance of hitting the right code.

Memory Foam in the seat????

My golf cart has a kill switch installed so if I were to be in a certain place for several hours, I would utilize it.

This might stop someone innocent but if a thief was to take it, they would know they just have to reactivate the kill switch.

I hope you get your cart back and it was an innocent mistake,

This would be a good investment for Yamaha owners, and it costs less than $20.

I’m doing the Lifestyle Preview next month. I will make sure I know my liability with the provided GC. If I’m on the hook for theft than it will stay in the garage.

Could someone please explain a kill switch vs. steering-wheel-club?
Or can a golf cart be easily rekeyed so the key lock is unique?
