Delta Launch in 1 Hour
Sorry for the late notice, but there is a Delta rocket launch scheduled for 10:49 PM tonight. You should be able to see it in the south east sky (the same place you can see the shuttle launches).
" Everything continues to look good with 60 minutes left in the countdown for the launch of Kepler aboard a Delta 2 rocket from Cape Canaveral. " You can go to http://spaceflightnow.com/delta/d339/status.html for updates. |
Thanks for the reminder!!!

Did you watch it, Caveman? It was so cool! I love this stuff! And I saw it from my own backyard! :pepper2:
"Kepler will push back the boundaries of the unknown in our patch of the Milky Way Galaxy, and its discoveries may fundamentally alter humanity's view of itself," said Jon Morse, director of the Astrophysics Division at NASA Headquarters. |
Not so impressive. I watched one night shoot and the tail was tremendous. Maybe it was the rocket type.
|
Wish I had seen it but I was too late, by only about 9 minutes. Thanks for alerting us UU, next time I'll be sure to be more alert. I used to see them all the time coming out of Vandenberg AFB in CA. Its thrilling.

KathieI, I'm sorry I was so late posting the info. Next time I'll try to give more notice.
|
UU, if its during "chatroom" time, you'd better just call me. I'm too busy at that hour. LOL...

UU, you are the best, Yes U are.
I read your post and I was running around here trying to look south from the windows and finally went way to the back corner of the lanai and craned, no luck. Kept running in and out and looking at the computer to see if it had happened. I was too lazy to change out of my jammies and stroll out to the golf course, so I missed it. I love to see your posts about the sky. I think you said Mr.UU was somehow involved with space program? Or are you just a telescope totin' girl? |
Shuttle Launch Next Week
Discovery is scheduled to launch on Wednesday, March 11 at 9:20 pm edt.
Because of the shuttles' difficulties and delays we're getting another night launch, which was not originally scheduled. Hopefully the sky will be clear and we'll have a great view. We watched the last one which was partially obscured by clouds but it was still spectacular. |
Great!
Oh this is great to know! Thanks.
Nonie! Nonie! Another night time launch! This time it's going to Target! :1rotfl: Seriously, I'm very happy we're getting to see another night time launch. I marked it down! |
Did anybody see it?
Personally I was in bed. The last time one of these Delta's went off I looked and didn't see anything. |
