Ben-Hur (2016).

Unfortunately, I will have to agree with most of the critics on this 2016 movie. A few good scenes but the Charleton Heston version is a great deal better as are many other movies covering Jesus Christ and his ordeals. Ben-Hur (1959 film - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

That would have been cool. I was born on 2-24-1959. Would have been way too young to have seen it when it opened in November of 1959 or if I did would not have remembered anything.

Yep the critics didn't like it and it left the clergy flat

It was stated that Hollywood (include television) genetic pool is badly depleted that's why you are seeing a resurgence of older sitcoms, etc. That same statement also can be said of the music industry.

I been watching old time movies and noticed the vast number of distinct, and interesting character actors. These characters were well woven into their stories Today movie makers rely on gratuitous sex and violence and technology to pull them through. Indeed their are exceptional actors today but not as deeply interesting. I opine others can decide

There are still some really interesting character actors out there. I watched Pulp Fiction again a few days ago and it has a number of them. Tarantino often puts some of them in his films even if these are often extremely bloody and he can say things before thinking about their impact.
