On-Street Parking
 

I know there have been several threads on this subject, one fairly recently. Yes, I did search and looked at them and still did not find an answer.

I have heard that recently some TV residents received parking tickets from the Sumter County Sheriff's Department for parking on the street. I have been unable to actually talk with anyone who got a ticket - all my information is second hand.

First, I would like to know if this is true.

Second, I have searched the Sumter County web sites for parking regulations, parking ordnances, etc., and am unable to find out what law, regulation, or ordnances cover on-street parking within Sumter, County, Florida.

hello, been parking on the street for a year.never even moved the car for days. these are your streets and you can park.remember streets are made for the cars.

Why not stop by the Sumter County satellite facility on 466 and Morse Blvd. If you tell them precisely where you live I'm sure they'll be happy to explain any regulation. Some of our residential streets are fairly narrow so there may be a concern about emergency vehicles having access to cul-de-sacs. You could also contact Community Watch. They have to be good for something.

I moved to Hemingway 6 months ago and was not allowed (according to neiborhood watch) to park on the street even to let the moving van into the driveway. Was told to put my car in a vacant driveway.

Courtyard Villas have guest parking lots. Since the driveways are smaller.

I'm sure that Neighborhood Watch discourages parking in the streets. Especially in the golf cart lanes!

in the villa neighborhoods, you're supposed to park at the dead ends of the streets, there's places there

You can't park in the streets and if you park into a golf cart lane , its a $250.00 fine........
Was told this by a deputy sheriff in out indoctrination meeting when we first came here ..........Marion county

Could be that they have houses near them that are not sold and thus vacant.

park in vacant house drive?try that and your car would be towed. first real estate agent would make sure of that

I posted the question a couple of times and finally did get an answer from the authority. I was concerned about parking on the street but was concerned about the residental areas and not the main street with golf cart lanes. The response I got was that there would not any citations issued by community watch or the police. I can post my emails if you wish. The only concern was that cars with boat trailers or large trucks could not park on the street but cars were ok.

Mr. Anderson,Good Morning.Parking is actually not a District Issue - unless it is a large truck.The parking, on County and City roads, is ruled and enforced by lawenforcement. I am not sure which county/city you are in but basicallythere has not been a problem with street parking (at least there has notbeen in the past with law enforcement) unless they consider it to beobstructive to the normal flow of traffic. Good Afternoon,Community Watch would not give you a "citation"...if they felt it wasimpeding traffic, they would talk to the owner about moving it to allowvehicles to get through. If they could not find the owner or the ownerwas not cooperative and it was still causing traffic problems, CommunityWatch would contact law enforcement and advise them. There is nothingin your deed restrictions that addresses vacant driveways. The DeedRestrictions address trucks over 3/4 ton, boats and recreationalvehicles that can not be stored or remain on any lot or street. I hope this answers your questions. Janet
