We need a dog park near Brownwood
 

Who would you contact to suggest a dog park near Brownwood? There is a large area around the Brownwood water tower next to the Fire Station. There is a lot of room and has trees to provide some shade.

Isn't the ACC north of 466?

There is a very nice dog park on Huey St, just off Powell Rd. Follow 44A west to Powell Rd, turn right on Powell Rd and Huey St is the first left. The dog park is on the left.

Bark Central Dog Park

We take our guy Mookie here at least 4 times a week. It's about a half hour drive. Sure would be nice if the Villages had something similar. The pond is the reason we go but 10 acres of fenced in chemical free land is another reason. The "pond" is actually a filtered pool. There's a "pond" on both the small & large dog sides. Also trees and shaded for us humans!!

Absolutely! The Wildwood Dog Park at this location is great for its shade (at least a doz. or more 50' Live Oaks) and gets a good mix of dogs who play, chase squirrels or just wander as they wish. All one size, though, so those who are fearful of their dogs being mixed in will not like it. But in 5+ mos. of going there, I've yet to see a problem between a big & small dog.

With Atlas on the east end of TV, and this park here, I'd guess it would be an uphill climb to convince anyone with TV management to put in another park near Brownwood.....but you never know! lol It is, after all......The Villages!! :)

Thanks for the input. I'm aware of the Wildwood park but would like one close that is golf cart accessible. The one near Belle Glade is very nice but no shade. If you look at the area around the water tower it is very large and will probably not be used for any other type of development. i will contact someone and make the suggestion. It never hurts to ask.

Here's what you need to consider. Between 466 and 466A where almost half of TV homes are located has one tiny dog park on a small hillside behind a fire station off Bonita and Buena Vista. Not a very pleasant sight.

South of 466A an area that began construction just over five years ago in 2011, opened Atlas Dog Park less than a year ago off Moyer Loop in conjuction with a nature boardwalk.

Consider TV has 2 softball complexes within a mile of each other, Saddlebrook and Buffalo Glen, each have 4 softball diamonds. South of that, almost all of 466 to 44, which is 2/3's of TV, they built the Soaring Eagle complex at Rohan and only built 2 softball diamonds, just 2 diamonds compared to 8 at the other two complexes. What would make anyone think they would add a second dog park when they were so stingy with their softball fields. I'm 100% behind you in wanting another dog park, but the reality of things beg to differ.

Is the Atlas Canine Recreation facility not reachable by golf cart from your location?

Please don't take your dog in your golf cart unless you have him restrained in a cage or similar arrangement. Would you have your 3 year old grandchild standing up on the front seat while driving your golf cart down the road at 20mph? I see it everyday, some will have a leash around their neck and have it tied to something, that's sounds good, just break his neck at 20 mph. I can't believe how people get a golf cart and then lose their common sense. If you love your dog, put him in a cage or use your car.

A little over-dramatic imho. A harness with the leash fastened at the back is as safe as a cage.

Your arrangement might work for you, but 90% of the dogs in carts that I see have very little protection for a dog. People don't seem to realize slamming on your brakes at 20 mph will send your dog through the air at 20mph. I'm sure they'll say, well I don't plan on slamming on my brakes, of course nobody plans on having an accident either.

IMO the villages really not pet friendly communtity. When my 17 year old carin terrier goes to doggie heaven it will be my last pet. IMO each village should have there own pet park. The villages is about golf everything else is secondary or icing on the cake depending on which way you look at it!:ohdear:

Good luck with expecting the developer to devote any more build-able land to dog parks. The only one between CR 466 and CR 466A was certainly an afterthought. It's smaller than many people's living room. The new Atlas dog park is the only one in The Villages that comes near to real dog park as far as size goes.
