CenturyLink problem solution
I just got off the phone with tech support and yes, they are having a problem. BUT, here is a work-around.
Go to the control panel, choose network and sharing, change adapter settings, choose your connection method, right click to get to properties, select internet protocol 4, then properties, preferred DNS server and enter 8.8.8.8 and the alternate DNS server 8.8.4.4 |
Those are Google's public DNS servers. You may want to continue to use them after Century link fixes thing, the tend to be faster than most others.

I deleted my question. I found your thread and when I went to villages.net it was down. I did the CL fix and the sites are working and surfing speed has improved.
I just did a speed test on the CL site and my 10mpbs service usually comes up between 9.5 and 9.9 and it just read 10.28, I've never had over 10. It really seems like twice as fast as before. |
