Gel injections in the knee

My doctor said that I am in the beginning stages of Osteoarthritis, and that I would be a good candidate for gel injections in my knees. Has anyone had this done? And did it help you at all?

SS
I've had it done twice . The first time it lasted about two years and the second time about six months .....
Some doctors say it doesn't help that much but I found it helpful for awhile

No injections, I can only say what worked for me.
Go to Sams Club (Costco) and pick up a bottle of Triple Strength Osteo BiFlex tabs, 180 count (NOT the Generic!!).
Take 2 a day. At the end of the bottle, you will know if it has helped. If not, you are only out the cost of the bottle, approx $24. It it does help, get another bottle and take one a day.
For me it did better than the prescription Vioxx and Celebrex I tried.:pepper2:

Synvisc

I have a friend who has had the injections a couple of times (Synvisc?). It seems to help him for a while.

In my case, I had a torn meniscus 10 years ago and suspect osteoarthritis in the knees also; however I have succeeded in remaining pain-free with an anti-inflammatory diet and taking glucosamine/chondroiten ever since the original injury. Of course I'm limited by not being able to run/jump or walk very fast ......... but no drugs, no inflammation & pain-free is a good thing
