Chicago Tribute

Did anyone else think that the Chicago Tribute tonight at the Savannah Center was of poor quality?? We went with high expectations and were so disappointed.

we thought they were "ok" sound system at Savannah Center just isn't very good....if you like Chicago make sure to see The Beginnings tribute band....they are the best

I thought the sound system was the issue, not the band. We really enjoyed the brass and percussion sections and had a fun evening. I felt like I got my money's worth.

We too thought something was off. My husband, a musician in his past life, thought the band was out of sync at times.

We had a nice evening and glad we got out of the house and forgot about the impeding storm for a while.

Same here about the band being out of sync; talked to the drummer afterwards and he told us that wasn't their lead guitarist or lead vocalist with them last night. But, we did have an enjoyable night out together away from the storm news.

They were not bad but I did not think they were as good as the Beginnings tribute band. Maybe it was me but at times we could barely hear the vocals.

:agree:

If you close your eyes, you wouldn't know if it was Beginnings or Chicago. The lead singer sounds exactly like the Chicago lead singer. IMHO

It's a must see show! IMHO

Agree re Savannah sound system. Recently saw the Carpenters tribute band - "Close to You". Was quite good - BUT sound system was not set up well. Could not hear the bass guitar or wind instruments very well. Seems to be a problem at Savannah...

We agree about OTA was not a very good tribute to Chicago. "BEGINNINGS" band is much better. OTA did a better job on the songs from Blood, Sweat and Tears.
Four of us had a good time anyway and went to Tai Ruby for dinner after the show.

Agree the sound system, or sound engineer, leaves a lot to be desired. The tracks from BS&T rocked. Ad yes The Beginnings band was a better show. Hope the Eagles are better

The monitors and front speakers have been upgraded. The main speakers are budgeted to be upgraded in 2017. I suggest you make your opinions on the sound system known to the District, not just on here. There are groups that use their own sound board and "sound engineer" and that can be part of the problem as well.

This may be going off on a tangent, and I apologize, but I'd like to know.
Does The Savannah Center complete with the Sharon Morse Center, or do they offer different types of musical groups?
And how do they compare for comfort, acoustics, parking and dollars spent?

JoMar....do you have the info on who to complain to...I've looked for e mail or phone number (other than the box office) and couldn't find anything

It seems to me that most of the tribute bands and lower drawing artists end up at Savannah, unless it's a big national tour like that Blues Brothers show that was at The Sharon.

I would contact Janet Tutt, District Manager, email Janet.Tutt@DistrictGov.org, Phone is 352.751.3939. Might as well start at the top. She will either forward your comment to the appropriate person (department) or point you in the right direction.
