Gates

My neighbor and I ventured out this morning to do some garage s ales, and were aware that the Gates had been removed, due to MATTHEW. As we approached each crossover, cars were speeding thru the gate areas at unsafe speeds, without even braking. We were extremely careful in pulling out, as many of the areas you could not see, due to bushes and other obstacles. I understand the reasoning as to the gate removal, but i would urge those removing the gates to put stop signs up and proceed with caution, (golf cat crossing). We saw several carts almost get hit as they were pulling out. Patience is a virtue, you are retired, slow down!!!!!

I went out a bit before 11 and was surprised to see the gates were back already. Good job!

While you make a good point that people should slow down, putting up stop signs in the correct locations wouldn't be very practical.

Unless they were screwed to a convenient and perfectly located wall/fence/etc., they would need some type of base...which would be a real pain.

Not to mention, unless the base was very heavy (exponentially increasing the 'PITA factor')...they would just blow over too.

I think a lot of drivers forget that their maybe a lot of older drivers with poor eyesight or reflexes. You would think that it would not be that hard to remember, but maybe they forget.

Your post points out the reason for the gates. They are not there for anything other than traffic control and public safety. They are very much needed.

I totally agree Bagboy......without those gates there would be many accidents between automobiles and golfcarts!!!!

Unfortunately when the stop signs are placed at broken gates cars barrel through them anyway. They don't have to stop. The rules don't apply to them.
