Police Everywhere

I was just getting my mail at Bonnybrook and I ran into a lady who told me that at our entrance across from Winnefred, she saw tons and tons of police cars and policemen. Even some hiding in the bushes. Does anyone know what's going on? I'm very curious.

Break In

I had heard there had been a breakin on one of the side streets on Tall Trees Lane and the police were patrolling looking for the theives.

Crime rate comparison

Check this site for a 2006 comparison of crime rates between Lady Lake and Orlando: http://ladylake.areaconnect.com/crim...=Orlando&s2=FL

Looking at this chart I think TV is a very safe place to live, overall, but there are problems everywhere and the hard economic times will increase crime in TV somewhat.

Robbery Tall Trees

Unfortunately there was a robbery in Tall Trees directly across from the mail center. The home backs to Tall Trees Lane. Evidentially the owners came home and interrupted the burglary. The police were searching everywhere and beating the bushes looking for the robbers. How this can happen in the middle of the day on a busy avenue is a mystery to me. We are vigilent about locking doors when we leave and installed a bolt at the top of our sliders which prevents the door from being raised off the track.

In our village in New York State, we have a communications network operated by the village. We receive a recorded message whenever there is a need to notify the residents, whether about a recent crime or a service disruption of some sort.
In one case, the message gave a description of the burgulars and where they were last seen. This happened minutes after the crime was reported.
The burgulars were apprehended minutes after the residents were notified, thanks to hundreds of eyes looking out their windows. We received a follow up call, informing us of the capture of the crooks and thanking the community for their help. As you might imagine, we have a very, very low crime rate. I wonder why more communities don't do this.
