Zumba classes

Hi, I am looking forward to spending the month of May in TV. Besides golf and swimming, I love my Zumba aerobic classes. Has anyone heard of classes in or near TV. Still cold in Buffalo. Can't wait to come to sunny Florida.

Yes - there is a great Zumba class at 10:00 every Mon, Tues and Thurs at Bacall Rec center. Try to be there around 9:30 since it does get crowded (at least it did during the winter months). In the paper and Rec News it is not called Zumba. For some reason it is called Shake It Up, but it is indeed an authentic Zumba class.

I have been wanting to ask about Zumba. I am not in TV yet, but Zumba is offered here in Cincinnati.

What I need to know is how easy is it to make a fool of myself in a Zumba class? You see, I am uncoordinated. Even my best friend would not pick me for her team in high school gym class. (In fact, I am still not quite over that and so I bring it up to her from time to time.)

Now, when it comes to water aerobics, I am completely at ease because nobody can actually tell what I am really doing with my feet, and also if I go the wrong way in water, I can correct in time and not knock anyone down.

Anyway, Zumba looks like it is really fun, but before I throw caution to the wind and sign up for the class, I really think I need to know more about it.

Is there room in the world of Zumba for somebody who steps to the left while others step to the right?

Is there room in Zumba for somebody whose Wii thinks she is pathetic and keeps playing sad music while that poor little Mii, or whatever she is called, looks crushed because she knocks over stuff when she skis and she can't catch the hula hoops that are thrown at her and her score is just awful?

Is there room in Zumba for somebody who dances like Elaine on Seinfeld?

I really do want to know. If I sign up for Zumba, will it be for me like high school gym class all over again?

Zumba & Jazzercise

Hi,

I've just got back from the Villages and heard Zumba was quite popular. I was told that it was held in the Villages Wellness centre.

Also, if you are interested, Joan Brennan runs great Jazzercise classes (booked through the Lifelong Learning College). They are at the Colony Cottage recreation centre. It was the first time I had ever been and I loved it so much I signed on for 3 x 6 week classes (2 classes a week at 8.00 a.m.). The price was very reasonable. There were also classes on a Saturday which I think ran for longer than 6 weeks.

Hope this helps.

I took Zumba classes in Columbus and loved it. My instructor could wiggle and shake like the dancer on Dance with the Stars. Nonie, it is dance to Latin music including a lot of belly dance type moves. Lots of fun. However, the class at Bacall is to a video. Everyone has fun but it's not the same as having an instructor.

Zumba is also offered at The Wellness Center at 7 pm Tuesday and Thursday.

Zumba

Thanks everyone! Guess I'll be able to continue my dance moves down there. The great thing about Zumba is that everyone does it at their own pace. Some, like me,resemble Cloris instead of Jennifer Hough on Dancing with the Stars. It is just fun and like going to a party. See you in class soon. Two weeks and counting.

I just took my first zumba class here in Michigan and loved it. I was exhausted after 20 minutes and didn't think I could finish. Then, the rest of the class just seemed to slip away and it was over. We just bought a CYV in Duval and will be down for the winter. Do we have to pay for these classes? How about the College of Lifelong Learning? Any exercise classes? Thanks, Karen

Does anyone know the cost of the classes at the wellness center on Tues and Thurs? Also...does anyone know if you have to be a member of the wellness center to attend?
