SECO Electric

We travel often ,sometimes for months. The only issue has been my SECO bill. At times we have our mail forwarded and we never seem to get a SECO bill. We just go ahead and estimate our bill and send in a payment. Recently a friend went on travels and their neighbor picked up the mail. SECO bill included then when returned received second bill . Sent in payment just before storm,no mail, then Columbus Day no mail. Comes home from golf Wednesday and the power was disconnected for non payment! Sticker on door. Wow! It seems as seniors there should be some kind of notification for shut off? Has anyone had experiences such as this regarding SECO?

I get my SECO bill via email and also via mail so this doesn't happen. It's funny though, some of my bills come via text, email or regular mail. If something stops working, like cable tv, the first thing I do is run to my checkbook to be sure when I paid it last. What happened to simple?

You can see your SECO bill on-line. We pay our bills on-line through BoA so it doesn't matter where we are located.

Setting up online payment is simple and easy. It takes the worry out of things like this. You can set up payment to automatically deduct from your checking every month so you save time and money on stamps. I don't think I have written out a check for bills in almost 5 years except for businesses who are way behind the times (like lawn care companies). Online bill pay might be a good option for your friend to explore...

This would make a great headline..." Senior on home respirator dies because electricity disconnected " social services not notified, relatives and neighbors shocked.

Doesn't Florida have protocol for such situations ??

Exactly right!

I have Citizens First automatically debit my SECO, TECO, and VCCD bills each month. No muss, no fuss.

There is no excuse for not paying a utility bill on time with all banks being able to do automatic bill payments on-line.

I am sorry but I have a problem with the "I was traveling so it isn't my fault" or "I'm a senior so you can't turn off my power" or even "I have a medical disability that requires power" mentality.

Did SECO give you the "run around" when you called them, did they say it could not be fixed??
