Children in the Villages

Does anyone have any idea how many children live with parents, grandparent's in the Villages? Could it be more than 10,000?

No. It is against deed restrictions for children under the age of 19 to live in The Villages. There are separate Villages for families, but I think you know that. You are a very aware poster who is fair and smart.

Not really concerned with under 19. Just wonder the over 19 group.

Does this restriction apply to renters as well as owners - both long and short term?

I have heard of minor children living with grandparents on the historic side - with school bus stops at some of the gates.

This would be one of those complaint driven restrictions- and even though it is against deed restrictions, some neighbors would have a very hard time dropping a dime on neighbors who are helping family members in dire need.

This is an excellent question. Personally, I truly feel for the disabled adult children who have no choice but to live with their parents. I am concerned about the convicted felons, sex offenders and substance (both legal and illegal) abusers who return to live with mom and/or dad and commit crimes, cause disturbances and otherwise negatively impact the lives of others within The Villages.

There are always choices. ALWAYS. Not convenient or easy but we know the rules when we move here.

I wouldn't consider 19 and over children and they are perfectly legal living in The Villages.

Check the Sumter County Sheriff's web site. It will show those that are arrested.

I am not used to referring to people over 19 years of age as "children"...

Huh???

If you have a boy or girl (your kids) over the age of 19, what do you call them?

wereback 10-22-2016 07:06 AM

Our children are in their 50s and I still refer to them as our children.

I doubt if we cause more trouble than some of the Seniors in the Villages. In the eleven years, we have been in the Villages I have probably met about a dozen other adults who are staying here in the Villages with their parents. And there are a very wide range of reasons for these people being at home with their parents. Always paint with a narrow brush when talking about complicated individual situations.

I still have not heard a guess on how many. And when someone ask how many children do you have How do you reply. case closed.

How would your mother have replied to your question? By definition then we are all children. TA-DA Answer to your question 120000 children live in The Villages.
