Driveway Extension/Painting

Is anyone aware of a company who does both concrete work to extend a driveway into the golf cart garage and handles tasks such as painting or other decorative type services to the driveways? I find companies that do one or the other but unable to find a company that does both. Thanks for any replies.

Not to my knowledge, and the reason may be that you need to wait at least on month before applying any finish to new concrete. I would suggest just using 2 contractors.

Also, you should check with public works (Bushnell) to see if you need a permit for the driveway work, do NOT ask at the Sumter County office (Pinellas Plaza) as you will get the wrong answer!! I have been there and done that, so I have first hand knowledge. The permit is NO COST, you can get the form at Pinellas Plaza, and they can forward it to Bushnell, but my experience was so bad, I drove it to Bushnell and filed it in person. I am assuming that you already have ARC approval, public works will want to see that document also.

Actually Go Concrete Designs can do both as I just found out. When I asked about permits and ARC approval (which I do not have yet) I was told that often there is no permit needed as it is considered improvements much like landscaping. As long as its not structural there is no permit needed. I have followed your postings relevant to this topic and I think they may be wrong based on your experience.

I found the same very misleading information about permits. I had 3 contractors out for quotes, and got different answers from all 3 regarding a permit for the driveway. I also got the wrong information from the Building permit department at Pinellas Plaza, as this is NOT a building permit. I was finally directed to the Public Works department (Bushnell), and was told I needed a permit because my expansion went all the way to the street. Now this maybe the cause for the differences in the replies, my neighbor did NOT need a permit because their expansion stopped several feet back from the street.

Since I have no idea of the type expansion you are doing, IMHO, I would make a call, there is NO cost, and all that happens is there is an inspection that is required BEFORE the concrete is poured.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, the extension will go to the curb so I am sure I will be taking the route you took. Thanks for the input I really appreciate it.

Verchachi, you are quite welcome, send me a PM if you would like to discuss further, or compare notes, or see our expansion.
