Looks convenient and has some decent lots available.

Search pine ridge, you will find love and not so much love on pine ridge living. Taxes are one of them. Your TV rep will be able to give you an idea about the taxes

Taxes are the gift that keeps on giving. Not to you though. My definition of a comfortable retirement is a payed off house & low taxes. Those two things will allow all the other goodies to fall right in. Besides, what will Lake County and the City of Fruitland Park do for you that Sumter can't, NOTHING.

Lake County has no Garbage Bill. Is that part of the difference in the taxes? On a percentage basis apples to apples how much is the difference?

You may find the Search button (above) handy.
You can search any topic and call up previous threads on the topic (as Bogie has demonstrated).

The mill rate is higher for Lake County plus Fruitland Park heaps on more taxes with its own mill rate. Taxes are approx 70% higher compared to unincorporated Sumter. If you are in Sumter incorporated with Wildwood that would add more taxes as well. I believe the CYV's next to Brownwood are in Wildwood.

Sumter county garbage bill is about $17 per month, I think. I don't think that makes up the difference in millage for the city government budget.

IMHO .......... if people are seriously interested in moving to TV, you should rent something before you buy and travel from one end of the development to the other end and talk, talk, talk to people everywhere. Until you actually "live" here you cannot know which Village would suit your requirements.

I live in Pine Ridge and we DO have a garbage (sanitation collection) bill of $17.90 per month

There was a thread like this last month, and they seem to come to the conclusion that a home of about $250K would be about $1,000 more a year in taxes in Lake County instead of Sumter County.

If I was moving here now, I moved here in 2011, I would buy a used (resale) home in either the Villages of Duval or Gilchrist simply because they are so centrally located between Brownwood and Lake Sumter Landing (LSL). You're also not far from Colony, but far enough away to don't get caught up in what is becoming a congested area, especially when Walmart & Bob Evans opens. If something is going on at Spanish Springs (SS) that I need to see, I'll drive my car. I live close to those two villages now, but those villages are even closer to the main Buena Vista cart path, and to Seabreeze Regional Rec Center and about 3-1/2 miles from either of those squares. I mention the cart path because I don't like driving a golf cart on the side of roads in a cart lane, much better on a cart path (MMP). If nothing in those areas were available, I would maybe expand my choices to St. James and Pinellas. This is just my opinion, others will have totally different ideas or reasons.
