Tarpon Springs seafood festival

Thinking about going. Is it worth the trip?

It's free. Plenty of seafood, arts, crafts. Beautiful weather. Why not?

That sounds cool, however the promoter's website said attendance will be about 30,000 so it might get crowded. The new car auto show is next Saturday at LSL, so I'll have to plan around that. Thanks for making us aware.

The last time I was in Tarpon Springs for any length of time was when I was in the 6th grade when my school class in St. Pete took a field trip. We went out in a sponge boat and watched the hard helmet diver go down and bring up a live sponge.

The first seafood festival I had ever attended was in Gulf Shores, Alabama, which is just outside of Pensacola, sometime in the late 70's. Spent much of the day inside a large circus type tent listening to bluegrass bands and drinking a few beers. I remember going outside to get some seafood, they had a boardwalk at that time. On the boardwalk I see a large crowd ahead, so I make my way up to the scene and it's George Wallace in his wheel chair, what a shock to see him, not in a bad way, just in an unusual way.

We went a few years ago. It was a nice time. Lots of people, but it never seemed too crowded.

20 years from now would you rather think back to the saturday you did pretty much the normal routine or would you rather think back to the saturday you went to a seafood festival?

Life's short enjoy it while you can

Tarpon Springs

Harry, 20 years from now I'll likely be dead or unaware that I'm alive. But, point taken.

Tarpon Springs is a fun day trip anytime.

It all depends on how one defines enjoying life. some enjoy attending a party while others enjoy planning a party. some enjoy a very active day at the beach while others prefer to lay in a lounge on the beach and read.............................................. ....................

Watch the movie "Beneath the 12 Mile Reef" which was filmed there in the 50's to get you in the mood.
