Does The Villages ARC control who can do Construction work in TV?

Will be looking to do some remodeling and possible expansion to our Villages home. Since we are fairly new to TV, not sure just how much control and restrictions TV and the ARC have over who can come into TV and do work. Know that whoever performs the work that we want done must have a Florida contractor's license. Does the contractor also have to be approved the TV and/or the ARC before being allowed to work on our home? Or in order to get our plans approved by the ARC, do we have to use one of their "preferred" contractors?

Hire any reputable contractor you want. Get your plans approved by the ARC, then make sure your contractor pulls the necessary permits. Good luck and welcome to the Villages. Len & Mary

I would go one step further, and check with Seniors against crime and BBB with regard to your preferred contractor, and then, NO upfront money, and if necessary staged payments, with the last 20% (or more) paid only after all inspections, etc., are completed.

Depending on what you are having done, no upfront money may not be reasonable. For example, windows and sliders for lanais are typically going to be custom made and perhaps not returnable. I don't believe it is unreasonable for the home owner to have some skin in the game before custom made parts are ordered.

No, there are no restrictions imposed by TV or ARC. The advice already given by others is excellent.
