Built in Wall-mounted TV

We would like to wall mount our master bedroom TV. Because of where it is located, the view will be from the side of the TV. Has anyone used a contractor to make a built-in unit only for the TV to be mounted on the wall? Any and all suggestions are welcome.

CT - just wondering - why a built in unit instead of just a swivel wall hanger? These are available for small money and easy to install.

We had a 50" flat screen TV wall mounted in our Camellia. We had it relocated to directly across from the bed. Enjoy it mightily.

Call me detail oriented... When you enter the master bedroom, the TV would be mounted on the wall immediately to the left and you will see the side of the TV with all it's "stuff". I would prefer to see a finished side (more like a picture frame) than to see the side angle of the TV.

Potato chip crumbs on sheets? Yeah I guess.

That is where we watch TV in both homes 95% of the time. Helene has a recliner in our master bedroom north and south. We have no TV in the main living area and TV's in all bedrooms north and south. (Also family room in basement up North.)

It just seemed comfortable. When we entertain guests we usually don't watch TV.

Ok - I see. I agree that Handie might be your best source.

We have a custom built 96" Entertainment center with room for a 52 in LCD built in the great room of our Lantana. IM sure our guy could build you something to suit your needs. Having a custom built-in was not that much more expensive than buying an entertainment center from a furniture store and NOW there is now wasted space on either side.

Flat screen TV's really are FLAT. We have it mounted so that it can come out a bit and face in slightly different directions but we haven't pulled it out. The side is not seen unless you really look for it.
