Places to buy fresh fish in The Villages area

Does anyone know of anywhere in The Villages area where fresh fish is available (particularly of the healthy variety)? Thanks in advance!

Lighthouse. Not inexpensive but the best we've found. Also nice folks.

Two years ago we bought fish there, just for the Halibut! To say they're expensive may be somewhat of an understatement. The Halibut was only $26 a pound. IMHO, you can also by fresh fish of similar quality for less than half that price at Winn-Dixie in Sumter. They continue to use the same supplier as their predecessor, SweetBay. The people at Lighthouse have rightly guessed that many people in TV are so well off that they'll pay just about anything for fresh fish.

Lighthouse seafood is great and yes it is fresh, not previously frozen. A few items such as salmon are previously frozen but they will tell you which are frozen and which are fresh.

I couldn't agree with you more. I walked in and walked out. The prices are a joke.

For me - it is a good reason to drive on down to Orlando...plus I can hit Trader Joes and get some awesome food at real quality restaurants.

Try TJE Seafood at the farmers market in Spanish Springs on Wed & Brownwood on Saturdays. Prices are better than Lighthouse. TJE Seafood | Facebook

There are still a few choices that prevail in the you " get what you pay for. " advise. This is particularly true in regards to fresh fish .I have purchased fish from Light House for several years from his start in the Village Square . I can tell you, coming from the North East ,there is no better quality any where in this market place , period .With regards to Redcart comment, please get real, there is no comparison . Light House is the real deal...

The Lighthouse is expensive but the product is usually excellent. The old adage " You get what you pay for " comes to mind. Fresh Market has good seafood also, but once again you are going to pay for it. The oysters in pint containers they offer around the holidays are outstanding and not preserved in the bath of chemicals found with the pints sold in the big grocery chains. Finally, to give Publix its due, when we have purchased fresh flounder and mussels there both have been very good.
