acupuncture

I have never used an acupuncturer before, but with constant neck pain and minmal relief from OTC meds, it's beginning to sound like a possibility. Would appreciate comments, experiences, and recommendations.
Thanks

I haven't done this, yet, but I saw your post...and, I saw that a new advertiser went on the site for Acupuncture...

In my opinion it is quackery. People will attest it helped them, but research shows it gives help only to those that think it will work. It's the placebo effect.

Interesting post.... I, too, thought it was a farce. After weeks of leg pain preventing me from sleeping..... could not lay down.... had to either be standing or sitting to stop the pain. Weeks of therapy, consults, medications with no relief, I decided... "what the hell"..... don't believe it but will try it. One session..... to bed that night.... pain again... my thought... "so much for acupuncture..... went to bed the second night.... no pain and never a twinge again........ This was a private licensed acupuncturist.... not a physician. Sent my husband to a licensed MD who practices acupuncture here in The Villages.... what a disappointment... like going to the chiropractor... a few needles... ultrasound, etc.... and several sessions scheduled... no relief and no more going to physicians who advertise acupuncture. There was no comparison in the treatments by the two different practitioners
So much for your theory that it only works if you think it will work.... I was definitely NOT a believer....... until after it worked !!!

Dr. Cheshire in LSL is an acupuncturist that has been here for 10 years. My primary doc sent me to him and he is fabulous. A ton of needles and concentrates of the areas of pain that I am having. Usually go to 4-6 treatments and pain gone. Reasonable price as well as my insurance doesn't cover but my friends does.
