Do you know about hulu.com?

I was reading a post about the slingbox and was wondering if you knew about hulu.com? It's a free website where you can watch MOST television shows on your computer with limited commercial interruption (15-30 sec spots.) The only downside is you can't watch the shows on the day they are broadcasted. Most shows can be viewed the following day, some shows not for a week later. You need a high speed internet connection because you are 'streaming' the show. I have virtually given up watching commercial TV in favor of this site. If you have a laptop, you can watch TV in any room of the house.

You guys have given me such helpful hints, I thought I would pass one along. Check it out and enjoy!

Thank you!!!

Thank you! I had never heard of that before you wrote about it. I was able to just watch the last episode of Greys Anatomy that I had missed due to being
without tv the night it aired.

I am considering getting an aircard instead of cable or DSL for internet service. How does watching hulu count toward your monthly quota with an aircard?

I have a Mac and Safari did not work immediately with julu, so I switched to Firefox and all was well.

Thanks again.

You can actually go to each station's web page; i.e., NBC, CBS, ABC, FOX and watch alot of their shows. I watched Survivor, Grey's Anatomy, Ugly Betty the day after they were aired. Some of the other shows have a delay on the internet of a few days to a week.

Darn it. I'm not able to access hulu.com from Canada .. It's not available here.

I keep trying to find a place to watch past episodes of "Rescue Me", one of my favourites.

Barefoot....try Fancast.com...it's another site to watch shows. Rescue Me is there I just looked it up.

It gets better that this.... Hulu desktop visit http://www.hulu.com/labs/hulu-desktop. No commercials that I noticed. Just downloaded it today. m a big Leno fan. This is great. Initially I was running Boxee on an Apple TV, but this is easier. Looks good on a 24 inch monitor. I still use the dvr for sporting events and hbo on the cable tv. How is this different than the hulu.com website?

"Hulu Desktop is a lean-back viewing experience for your personal computer. It features a sleek new look that's optimized for use with standard Windows Media Center remote controls or Apple remote controls, allowing you to navigate Hulu's entire library with just six buttons. For users without remotes, the application is keyboard and mouse-enabled. Hulu Desktop is a downloadable application and will work on PCs and Macs. It will initially launch as a beta product during which we plan to gather and incorporate user feedback to improve the service."

Enjoy

Thanks for the suggestion Helene. Appreciate it. But I just tried Fancast.com for Rescue Me. They say "video unavailable, it may be a network issue". Same deal I get with hula.com.
How do they know I'm in Canada? It is so frustrating. :cus:

Bare...the hulu website says it is only available in US. They plan to expand internationally but are working on agreements with the TV networks.

It's probably based on your computer's IP address that identifies it as originating from Canada. When you come back to the bubble, you'll be able to see it from here. They do have "Rescue Me".

Sorry about that....

Bare

Try these links. It worked for me and I am in Canada too. If you have any problems e-mail me and we can get on the phone and work it out for you. Good luck.

Any luck finding Rescue Me on http://www.fastpasstv.com/

Has anyone used one of these streaming sites when using a netbook computer over a WiFi home network? Just wondering if the netbooks have enough processing power to deal with the streaming video.

I can watch stuff on the major channels, ABC, etc., but Rescue Me is on FX. I can find Rescue Me, but it won't let me watch any episodes. :cus:

Y'all can also try to go the the station's website like abc.com or cbs.com, etc. They have most of their episodes there so you can watch them any time you want.

Rescue Me will play for me so not sure why it will not work for you.

Mom and Bare,

Are either of you using a wireless router? The router could be hiding your IP address. Bare, if you are not using a router, try going to a Starbucks or such and see if you can view from there.
