Driveway stripping needed ASAP

Anyone know of a company that will strip an already sealed driveway to repaint. Need a good recommendation ASAP

From what I have been able to gather from my neighbor and the guy that did our driveway painting, you will need to have the old finished ground off, I have not heard of anyone getting away with sand blasting, chemical removal, and any other process. In general everyone advises against painting over a drive way that has already been painted.
IMHO, if you have a person or company that you want to use for refinishing your driveway, I would have them contract the removal of the existing paint. In this way, you should have some warranty on the new paint job. If you do this yourself, or contract the removal and there are problems in the future, you may find you have no warranty on the new paint.
I would check with any of the firms dealing with driveway finishing as they will probably have the necessary grinding equipment. NOTE: this is dusty, and noisy. Good luck with your project.

Our driveway was painted because it did not have a seal. Therefore the company said it did not need to be ground down. Of course, knowing that It did let them paint anyway. Now of course it is bubbling and peeling we have had so much bad luck in the villages over the last 10 years with contractors that I cannot fight with this one. It is just not worth my time. If he does not rectify the situation in short order at all of my belongings are sitting outside and in my lanai That belongs in my garage. I will post the name of the company . He was pretty hostile on the phone but I am hoping in person we can solve it .

Railcruiser sorry for your problems, I have heard of several complaints exactly like yours. Try doing a search on driveways on this site and you should get lots of info. Then take the top 3 contractors, and contact BBB, Seniors against Crime, etc., to confirm background, complaints, etc. Contact each for estimates, and then get referrals, in this case recent and older if you can this will give you an idea of recent work and durability of older work.
Hope this helps.

I am not sure if Amy Newsome does the stripping part (!) But she does stain driveways and is excellent. Worth a call? I think so.352-308-7410. Best of luck. I feel your frustration!

Please what are you saying? In our area of town unpainted driveways are not normally sealed. So did you paint over an existing painted driveway? And what period of time did you paint (re-paint) ? How long after you painted/re-painted did the peeling etc begin? If you have a mind would you tell us who this contractor is?.

Perhaps a contractor can grind down the existing painted concrete drive and repaint it. I would get the price difference to try and repair your driveway and the price to tear it up and lay down a new concrete driveway. Keep in mind even if you find a way to repaint you may not be pleased with the result. I mean any contractor is going to be faced with some natural limitations

As a sidebar many of my neighbors have paved driveways and none escape problems with them

Best of luck to you

OP, if you go with replacing the driveway, you need to let the concrete cure for at least one month before applying any paint or stain, etc. If anyone suggests doing it right away RUN AWAY, I would not want you to have more problems.

Cliff at Decortive Concrete. He will give you an honest answer. Maybe not what you want to hear, but honest.

Can you just have the existing painted driveways ground off and go back to natural? With the new natural driveway requires sealing as well?

The paint goes deep into the concrete crevices and after grounding still need some sort of application, none which would look satisfactory in my view.

the peeling and bubbling signifies that the surface was not properly prepared before the application

Hope the OP finishes his story on TOTV
