Some people are ignorant
First I'll preface this with the comment that I have a dog here in TV. That stated, as I was riding my bike home in Duval this evening I (quietly) came upon a gent walking his dog with the ceremonial plastic bag of poop in hand...supposedly for appropriate deposit back home. Suddenly the fool bends over and tosses the bag-o-crap right into the storm sewer!!!!!!!!! He had no idea I was behind him. I made a few choice comments.... he put HIS tail between his legs and scurried home. Can you believe some people!? :cus::cus:

Inappropriate for sure !
Everything finding its way inside - probably gets disposed of "somewhere" at the end of the storm-sewer route but that was a YUCKEY thing to do, on purpose !
|
Glad you called him on it

Storm sewer likely ends up in one of the many ponds around The Villages.

My understanding is that storm sewers empty into our ponds. Now I know where those bags and green slime came from in a golf course pond at Hacienda. Yuk!!!!!:cus:

There is always some one out there that thinks the rules don't apply to him. You should have also told him that you were going to post his action on TOTV and a lot of people would know what a jerk and irresponsible person he is.
|
They do end up in golf course/Village ponds. Spoke to a fellow Villager once whose husband used to work on the golf courses and said they pulled many a plastic bag from the ponds. I just can't imagine the ignorance.

Recently watched a professional lawn maintenance company spill a large amount of whatever they were spreading on the lawn and sweep it down the storm drain. Have no idea what it was but there was quite a bit of it. :cus:
I have limited the use of pesticides around my home and find it a difficult battle to win. |

Take a look at the ponds after a big rain and you can see the Publix, Walmart, etc. bags bobbing at water's edge in the ponds. This is just as bad as the dog owners who bring their dogs to the pools/postal stations, walk them on that grass and then deposit the stinky bags in the trash cans that we walk by to get mail or go to the pool. I saw a guy do that at the Duval pool last fall. Th Villages is an incredible place to live with many wonderful people, but unfortunately it's a large population and we have more than our fair share of clueless idiots. |

too bad somebody didnt get his picture doing the deed. Could post it in the neighborhood.

Why, why, why?!!! Some people are SO inconsiderate. Improper disposal of animal waste is one of my pet peeves (oops, bad pun). Two others that rank right up there-cigarette butts :yuck: (they never decompose) and chewing gum (it sticks to your shoes and makes a real mess). Most times it's a matter of walking just a few feet to properly dispose of the items. So many smokers step out of their car, drop the butt and stomp it out (maybe) or let in burn (usually) rather than carrying it a few feet to the store entrance where the ashtray is:cus:! Or,even worse, I've seen some dump their entire ashtray onto the ground right outside their car!
Perhaps we could find out where the "gentleman" lives that threw his waste down the storm drain and arrange for that drain to empty onto his lanai! |
I guess this may be kinda hijacking the thread, but it's related. Several years ago, I saw my neighbor up the street shoveling yard waste into the storm sewer. I didn't say anything, but ever since, my opinion of him has been harsh. I played golf with him about six months ago and had to bite my tongue to keep from bringing it up.
