Prime rib

Can someone recommend a place that has good prime rib? I was told about Alfie's--but, I read some bad reviews of late....
Thanks.

I had wonderful prime rib at the Cattle Baron, the top floor of Katie Belles.

Try Stumpknockers out on 200 not the one in Invernes. Look it up on google. Make sure you make reservations

Mallory Hill on Saturday nights a=has a two for one that is just great. Cooked just the way I liked it and super tender. I did have to ask for some juice to go with it and that made a big difference. Absolutely loved it.

Outback- or cook it yourself, too

We always went to Alfie's- just to get out of The Villages & we like to support locally owned businesses. Their prime rib can be outrageous, or it can be so- so. We've actually found Outback's prime rib to be consistently delicious.

For Christmas, I cooked prime rib for 90 for our church, without ever having cooked it. I got the recipe from Pepe, the original chef at now-closed Bourbon St. Could not be easier- or more delicious!~~

1. Buy prime rib (or standing rib roast if you want the bones)- SECRET: Allow beef to reach room temp. before cooking so it cooks uniformly.

2. Buy "Montreal" or "Canadian" Dry Rub

3. Rub spice generously on beef, place in pan,fat dies up, ribs down cover with foil. Cook at 425 for about 20 minutes, then lower to 300 & cook around 8 minutes a pound!

4. Remove when very red (120 degrees if you use a thermometer) & allow to rest to allow juices to flow back for at least ten minutes- beef will continue to cook, so make sure you take it out of oven before it looks rare.

Works great for regular steaks too!

I was always a total klutz with beef, but have found this to be foolproof, quick and delicious.

Prime rib

Thanks!
I've dined at Havanna three times now--and have not liked their food at all...
I DID go to Glenview Country Club last night--and they just happened to have Prime Rib as one of their 2/$22 items. It was good! :pepper2:

We have had the special at Havana and it is good, but for Prime Rib go to Outback.

We went to Cattle Baron's last night and had the 7 oz $11.99 special. Very tasty and tender. Great salad bar and side dishes.

Outback and Nancy Lopez are my other prime rib places. I still need to try Glenview.

Great Prime rib

Although it is not on their regular menu, they do run it from time to time. Taki's Greek & Italian in Leesburg not TV. I had the prime rib sandwich for lunch yesterday as a matter of fact and it was superb. I'm sure they have the dinner portion too. Just call ahead to see if they are running it or you can request it like I do. Hope this helps!

Another mention for Stumpknockers on the river. They have great prime rib and fish. We have friends that live in Rainbow Springs, so we meet at that Stumpknockers.

Don't forget to make reservations. It is a bit of a drive, but better now because it is staying light later.
