Advice on TV's on Lanai
 

What advice/experience do you have regarding placing digital (HDTV) televisions on screened lanai's? I am wondering what the risk would be for the humidity and/or blowing rain to damage electronic devices is permanently mounted on lanai wall. Any comments or experience would be appreciated and will help plan which and how many of our TVs' to plan on moving with us.

Depends on how close TV is to screens - I wouldn't be to worried to put a table mounted one in the Lanai and bring it in and out as the weather permitted.

Sound and Light could be an issue with close neighbors.

A neighbor and a small TV he kept in the lanai and he covered it with a plastic bag when it rained. It kinda of blew up when he turned it on one day from the moisture that had accumulated in it.

Rain and electronics do not mix.

I've had a tv on the lanai now for years. It is not a flat screen, one of the older types. But I have kept it covered with a plastic computer PC monitor cover when not in use. It is under roof and far enough back to be screened from all but the windiest rain storms. I keep the remote in a plastic ziploc bag and it operates fine without having to remove it. So far, no problems!

Have a TV on the screened lanai for better than 7 years now. Started with the normal small one and now have a small flat screen. Sits on a table against the back wall of the house. Have never covered it nor do I encase the remote. So far we've not had any problems.
