Police, Fire & EMS Scanner Monitoring

How are y'all monitoring police, fire and EMS for the various Villages localities?

I gave up...had the right frequency but no activity. Perhaps the transmissions are encrypted.

Radios are now digital, none of my existing scanners will work. There was another thread recently, and I did some research, and a few companies are selling digital radios. Now I do not want to be the Ginny pig on this as the digital radios can also be encrypted and therefore rendering the new scanner useless. SO, if anyone goes for one please let the rest of us know if they actually work.
I did a Google search on digital scanners, lots of info, including sites that offer preprogrammed radios.

Sumter county Fire & EMS dispatch is available for your smart phone. Go to Pulse Point.com

No voice transmissions, just a print out of the type of call and location.

All Law Enforcement in FL has gone digital/encrypted or are in the process of going there.

I had a digital scanner (actually covered both digital and analog), but received nothing on the frequencies assigned to local agencies. Recently sold it on eBay, since it had little use here.
Save your money.

I MAY consider one of the preprogrammed scanners, ONLY if they offer a guarantee that it will actually work, so if it does not due to encryption being on all the time, then I can return.

Scanner Radio app in Google Play Store

Try "Scanner Radio" which is a free Android app. Probably something similar too for iphone.

It streams Marion and Lake Counties but don't see Sumter. Go to "Nearby Scanners" in the options.

I found one for Sumter County, did NOT work well, and ONLY had the dispatch transmissions. The app was very intrusive, and kept getting security warnings from my security software, so I deleted it. Do some research on these apps, they have a bad history of gaining access to just about everything on your phone, and may install malware without your knowledge.
On the other hand, these were the only way I found to "listen in", since these provide ONLY the dispatch transmission, I suspect that the rest of the transmissions are encrypted, and therefore not available.

Can you please verify that this is the correct website? I didn't see anything that looks like a transmission log of Sumter County. PulsePoint
