They ALL lie constantly...Both Clintons, O, the Bush's, ALL the way back...even Washington ONLY fought to keep the considerable land holdings from his day as a surveyor. He surveyed the frontier, noted all the choice spots...and made a killing. Getting paid by the rich for the locations of choice parcels...to buy his own land...even better land.

It wasn't ALL philanthropy that drove the founders. They were businessmen who were tired of paying tribute for nothing. The colonies were taxed but not really cared for. They thought they were far enough away to pull off "secession"...and evidently, they were.
