Low speed vs Golf Cart
http://www.starelectriccars.com/Florida%20Law.htm
Why is it so hard to understand the LAW? A golf cart is a golf cart only if its max speed limit is less than 20 miles per hour. A LSV is designed by the manufacture to go up to 25 miles per hour with the safety features required by law, must be insured with required state law coverage's and registered. No where does it say that a golf cart that has its motor modified to go over 20 miles per hour becomes a LSV by Florida Law. The safety features are totally different. Why does one work hard in their life and obey the law, then decide after retiring and moving to the Villages to enjoy life decide that breaking the law is okay. Why would you put everything you work for on the line. Please someone explain to me. I really would like to understand. |
I run into that every day. People say that their cart can do 27 miles per hour and they drive it on Morse Blvd. because they are doing over 25. I have a copy in my office of the same law and show it to them and explain that they are breaking the law and putting themselves in danger every time. All LSV's must adhere to the laws, there are no exceptions. The best story I get weekly is buying a LSV, paying the insurance and the plate fee the first year and then not insuring it and not renewing your plate. This way they can go 25 instead of 20 on the golf course. Are you kidding me? Just wanted to throw that out there. There are reasons(laws) that they make street legal carts the way they do. Take care kar guy
