How to forward mail

Hi,
I live in NY. I will be renting a home in TV the month of September and then, I hope, will find a home to buy.
My question is: I'm told that I am not allowed to have mail forwarded to the rented home. So how do I get my mail during September?

How about renting a PO Box & forwarding it there?

Good idea. Who do I contact to rent a box?

I had heard that you can forward your mail to General Delivery, Lady Lake FLA 32162. Not sure about this ... but sounds like an idea.

The USPS has a service called Premium Mail Forwarding that works really good as it does not change your address but it does cost about $10 a week as I remember. We used the Premium Mail Forwarding and rented a box at Village Pack & Ship.

This past Jan, Feb. and March I rented a house in the villages and solved my problem of mail in this manner.

I paid for 12 first class mailers which my post mistress in NJ held. I had already paid the postage and I pre addressed them to my post office box in TV. The post mistress sent only the first class mail to me once a week packaged in one of the mailers and like clockwork I received it every Tuesday. I recommend this message highly. The cost was about $4.00 per week.

PS I had it sent to the Post Office Box of the house I was renting. No problem getting the mail. By the way, the Post Mistress said this is the best way.

Gud luk.

I have taken almost the entire month of December for vacations for a number of years and all I do is have my mail held at the post office until I return. I prepay all my utility bills to cover the month and a little more. I know what other bills such as car insurance that come due during that month and I prepay them also. I keep track of my credit card charges and pay them on-line.

I have found this to be hassle free and has never been a problem. Now if you are staying longer than a month I would look at other options.
